The Latin name is Guajacum officinale. Guajacum or Guaiac wood tincture is made from the highest density of heartwood. The wood sinks in water and contains a lot of resin. The wood was used by the South American Indians because of its strong medicinal properties and is a tincture that is comparable to Teasel root, Samento (Cat's claw) or Andrographis.
